About

Welcome to How to Fangirl for Adults! If you’ve found your way to this blog, you’ve probably been there before.  At a concert, con, Q&A or book release, surrounded by screechy teenagers.  Avoiding the bookstore attendant to sneak into the YA section.  Borrowing nieces, nephews, etc. for an excuse to go see a “children’s” movie.

But there are also so many advantages to being an adult fan!  There’s no curfew, so you can wait as long as you want after the show to meet that YouTuber or movie star.  Having a job and income makes acquiring costumes so much easier! And of course, it’s only after you turn twenty one that you can (legally) enjoy REAL butterbeer.

This blog is going to be a chronicle of my adventures as an adult fangirl.  I am a fangirl in my early twenties, living in Chicago and working for a non profit.  This blog will also serve as a collection of resources regarding costumes, hair, party ideas, inspiration, and all things fan related.  In addition to my nerdy interests, I am a ballroom dancer, so some of that may influence posts and ideas.  Some of what you can expect in this blog is:

  • Harry Potter
  • Doctor Who
  • Marvel Universe
  • Lord of the Rings
  • Disney and Pixar
  • Star Wars and Star Trek
  • Whedonverse
  • Broadway
  • YouTubers
  • Cosplay Ideas and Suggestions

What you will not see much of, unfortunately, is video games and anime.  These are two realms of fandom that I am wildly unfamiliar with at the moment, though as time goes on who knows, we shall see!

  1. Hi! My name is Christina Clawson, and I’m reaching out to you as a fellow blogger and girl geek. I’ve started a blog and small online shop called Geekyloot.com – and I would love to know what you think of the site, and what sorts of items you’d like to see offered in the future (specifically what fandoms you’re into!). I’d also love to do a blog post about your site or possibly have you write some articles for us and vice versa? There’s never enough good press in the world and I think the only way we really can grow our ideas and spread them is through reaching out to others. If you are at all interested in working with me, I’d love to hear back from you!

You can respond to administrator@geekyloot.com, or christina@geekyloot.com

  2. Haha thanks! Check out my Cosplay section to see what I’ve done 🙂 Those are some great ideas, I plan on doing a Broadway themed cosplay at some point in the next year!

  3. You must be an amazing costume designer! Do you do cosplays for characters from stage musicals? Maybe some very prominent ones like Elphaba from Wicked or The Phantom of the Opera? Just throwing some ideas.

  4. Hi Nicole! I do PR for Underoos (Yup, the ones we all wore as kids) and would love to send you a press sample of our adult Underoos and sponsor a giveaway or coupon code for your readers. I’ve left my email below; contact me when you get a chance.

    Thanks!
